Ict security provider KPN Security is partnering with Breens Network, ict organization for education. The two are combining their knowledge to give educational institutions insight into their ict vulnerabilities and how they can increase cyber resilience. As part of the collaboration, they are setting up a 24/7 security operations center (soc) and facilitating reports to the Ministry of Education, Culture & Science (OC&W).
According to the two parties, the collaboration is a concrete fulfillment of the call by the General Intelligence and Security Service (AIVD), the National Cyber Security Center (NCSC) and the Education Inspectorate to increase the digital resilience of the education sector.
In September 2021, then outgoing education minister Ingrid van Engelshoven called on the sector to continuously monitor their systems and work on resilience. Shortly before that, the Inspectorate found that ICT security in education was substandard.
