Erik Fledderus will be installed as lector of Digital Business & Society at Windesheim University of Applied Sciences on November 8. On that day, he will deliver his lectoral address on how humans can keep a grip on new technologies and will be head of the research group engaged in this research from then on. Fledderus was previously managing director at SURF, managing director at TNO and professor of Wireless Communication at TU Eindhoven.
As of 2021, Fledderus was active as a quartermaster lecturer, aiming to expand the then-lectorate of Industrial Automation & Robotics into a broader research group. This broader lectureship, called Digital Business & Society, focuses on various issues related to digitization and acts as a research and discussion partner for the outside world and practitioners.
In his speech, the brand new lecturer will discuss his team's research, which examines the impact of digital technology on organizations and society. The lectorate asks how we as a society can keep a grip on new technologies and integrate our values, such as privacy and human dignity, into technological developments. The research focuses on creating "Value Enhancing Technologies" and ensuring the human dimension in technological development and use.
The Digital Business & Society lectorate conducts practice-oriented research on the themes of Industrial Automation & Robotics, Digitalization in SMEs, and Digital Society. For this research, the organization leans on lecturers, PhD students, lecturers and students and seeks cooperation with the regional business community.
