Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences is experimenting with replacing teachers with ChatGPT. This will happen next Friday during a seminar on developments in higher education. Rob van der Willigen, tech-lead of the AI & Ethics program at the college, will then make an attempt to replace a teacher with this generative ai.
The central question is whether, with the advent of this groundbreaking language robot, a teacher is still needed. And what aspects of a teacher can or cannot be replaced. Also at issue is whether higher education can become a plug-in to ChatGPT in the future.
The interaction between ai and ethics will also be discussed. Pieter van Boheemen, AI & Ethics program manager at Rotterdam University of Applied Sciences, thinks the workshop is an excellent opportunity to show what ai technology like ChatGPT can do. 'But also to highlight the ethical considerations involved. After all, it is crucial to ensure that such systems are always designed and used in a way that benefits society.'
