The cabinet tackles the personnel shortage in technology and ict extra. For better cooperation between vocational education and business, it is allocating 123 million euros.
The contribution comes from the National Growth Fund and is part of the Green and Digital Jobs Action Plan. The aim is to train young people for the regional labor market. In addition, the government wants to keep employees in the regional business community permanently employable through retraining and further training.
With the contribution from the National Growth Fund, existing public-private partnerships can be expanded. This will increase learning effectiveness in the Northern Netherlands, for example, by having learners and workers work together on innovations in the Green Transition Northern Netherlands project.
In Brabant, the Digital Industry Boost consortium is working to boost digitization. There, existing cooperation between manufacturing SMEs and education is being expanded.
The government contribution of 123 million should further scale up public-private partnerships in fifteen consortia through targeted investments. More students, workers and job seekers can now be trained for a job in technology or ict. A condition for the award was that regional partners such as government, business or education, also contribute to the funding.
The "Subsidy Scaling Up Sustainable PPPs in Vocational Education" is funded from the National Growth Fund. With this fund, the cabinet is investing 20 billion euros between 2021 and 2025 in projects that will ensure long-term sustainable economic growth. So of the 210 million investment, 123 million will now be allocated to fifteen consortia. The remaining amount will be allocated at a later stage.
