Sogeti will again be the data partner of the Royal Library (KB) for the next three years. With an option for extension up to a maximum of six years. The it-company has been managing the data warehouse since 2016 and will now have the additional task of developing it into a data platform to be accessible to a wide audience. The contract value is six million euros.
The national library in The Hague collects reading book data according to standardized methods on the data platform and reports on it to the 1,247 public library locations in the Netherlands. In addition, the data platform is part of the National Digital Infrastructure that provides insights for policymakers at, for example, the Ministry of Education, Culture & Science, Statistics Netherlands and the Association of Dutch Municipalities. It is also used by partners in the book trade, such as Stichting Collectieve Propaganda van het Nederlandse Boek (CPNB), Stichting NBD Biblion (SNB), and other external parties (academics, journalists).
As a technology partner, in addition to management and maintenance, Sogeti will be responsible for the further development of the current data warehouse into a renewed data platform. Whereas the national library's data are now primarily focused on the lending function of the public libraries, in the coming years data will also be used for socio-educational and cultural services for a wide audience, such as the "Klik and Tik" computer courses.
