Registration for Teacher of the Year 2024 election open
Registration for the election Teacher of the Year 2024 is open. Until May 10, teachers, school leaders, education (support) staff, as well as students and parents can register their favorite teacher for the election. So if you know a teacher who deserves to become Teacher of the Year, it's your turn! Sign him or her up for the election.
Ambassadors for the profession
The four winners are ambassadors of their sector for a year and are given a stage to propagate their inspiration and innovative ideas and share them with the rest of the teaching profession in the Netherlands. They work from craftsmanship on the best education for their students. Thus, the election contributes to a positive image of the profession and makes the quality of the profession visible. According to Chantal Goedertier, Teacher of the Year 2019 for special education, her peers should be proud of their profession. "If someone asks you at a party what you do for work, say loud and clear: I'm a teacher!
Nominate a teacher
You can nominate your favorite teacher at www.lerarenvanhetjaar.nl/aanmelden. You can do so until no later than May 10, 2024.
From all the applications, a jury of teachers will make an initial selection, the top 10 per sector. They all make a letter and video. Then in September, a professional jury of teachers chooses 3 finalists per sector. Finally, a professional jury chooses the four winners from primary education, special (primary) education, secondary education and intermediate vocational education.
These winners will be announced in early October 2024.
