The success of education and child care depends on the professionalism of teachers, teaching assistants, school leaders and other professionals. Their expertise deserves the recognition and appreciation it is due. That is why craftsmanship is the focus of the NOT 2025.

Teachers and teaching assistants combine professional, didactic and pedagogical knowledge at a high level. Their passion to make a difference in the lives of young people is undeniable and they deserve the space to perform their work with maximum effectiveness and efficiency. This means less red tape and more autonomy in their teaching practices. School leaders and administrators play an important role in promoting and maintaining this professionalism.

In the Beroepsbeeld Leraar, published last May, thousands of teachers from primary education, secondary education, special education and intermediate vocational education share their vision of the teaching profession. Craftsmanship is central to this and, in addition, the importance of continuous professional development and emphasized the role of teachers as game changers in education.
